Both Margaree and Port Hood have grassroots groups of parents working towards establishing a formal daycare option for families.

Supports family resource centres in Cape Breton as well as programs and services for families, parents, and caregivers. In Inverness County, Family Place offers prenatal programs, breastfeeding support, play groups, home visiting programs, and more. Family Place leads a weekly Parent ‘n’ Tot session at the Cranton Crossroads Community Centre from 10-12pm on Fridays.

(Mawiomi w’jit Mijuwajijk) is a movement in western Cape Breton (including Inverness County and the Margaree area) that arose in response to the One Nova Scotia Coalition’s Collaborative Action Plan’s #1 priority: The Early Years – Starting Strong, whose goal is to create welcoming spaces to connect and belong for children and their families and caregivers.
